Invited by a friend to see this film one afternoon and reluctantly agreed to go, as most modern cartoon films leave me somewhat cool at the very least. Also, some scenes might be a bit upsetting for younger kids: there's a huge earthquake that results in a character's death, and the baddie is bent on collecting exotic animals and cutting them up to stuff. Whilst this is not the Paddington bear of your distant youth it is very well done, we took our daughter to see this at the cinema, adults enjoyed it, the animation is excellent & speeds your acceptance of Paddington without Michael Horden's narration & the cut out simple animation of BBC at teatime back in the day.

It follows Paddington bear from a London that British people will all love and recognise in a 'normal' London house (that in the past wouldn't have been so expensive but now would probably set you back a few million) in which Paddington first arrives in Paddington station and the Brown family find him and (begrudgingly on Mr Brown's part) take him in and let him stay. Paddington is the perfect story for everyone. PADDINGTON really warms the heart. This is a movie I will never get bored with. Being recently reminded of the film I decided to buy it and, I still found it as funny as my original viewing.

Is it meant to be a story for children? Much of it is funny and the cast is wonderful, but because it is a combination of live action and CGI, I don't know that it would fully hold the attention of kids younger than about 9.

I simply loved it. The music soundtrack is really good as well, particularly the calypso band playing on the London streets as Paddington passes by. Very funny and warm, with some nice acting by the whole cast.
